Burger Palace Hockey Art

Description

This rather vintage looking artwork was found at the Burger Palace, inside The Imperial Hotel & Casino, which will become The Quad next year. I highly doubt this artwork or the restaurant will migrate to the new theme of the casino. Good to see though that people (probably in the 1970s) were thinking about hockey when they decorated the place! The burgers, by the way, were good, but not great. The bacon, however, was fantastic!

Yes, the NHL may be locked out for now, but the AHL, ECHL, KHL (Europe's top pro league, mainly Russian teams), etc. leagues are still playing, as are the NCAA and CIS (Canadian college sports association), as well as youth hockey and anybody who wants to get out on the ice with sticks and pucks. Chicago has a team in the AHL (AAA league) the Chicago Wolves, and the San Jose Sharks have an AHL team, the Worcester Sharks, that have been doing well so far this season. Stockton (Stockton Thunder) and Las Vegas (Las Vegas Wranglers) are in the ECHL, a AA league. Sacramento and Las Vegas each have a division II college men's ice hockey team (unfortunately not part of the NCAA, as they are funded by the student club association, rather than their school athletics departments). There are numerous youth hockey and junior hockey teams in the U.S. Northeastern States, and of course across Canada. There are also ice hockey leagues and teams in numerous countries, even Saudi Arabia! Therefore, do not give up on ice hockey! If you have cable or satellite, try subscribing to a general sports pack ... I can watch most of the University of Minnesota Men's ice hockey team's games this way (mostly on Fox Sports North), and some other NCAA teams too. Sometimes I get AHL games, and the NHL Network often runs Canadian Major Junior games.
